Leadership Practice and Accountability Policy: Lessons from the U.S., Denmark, Finland and Sweden

Nordic countries have strong traditions of commitment to democratic values, collaboration, and individual enlightenment that shape the culture of schools and the implementation of educational policies. The purpose of this international community-building session is to explore the goals of U.S.-style accountability policies that have been adopted by policymakers in Nordic countries, and to examine distributed leadership practices that emerge as a result of these policies and their application in these cultural contexts.
